1st Leg of Honeymoon – Exploring Johor Bahru (1st to 4th May 2017)
Our initial plan was to go for a cruise. But we can only plan and it is God’s will to make it happen. So this happen instead. We booked our stay for the week at Somerset Puteri Harbour Nusajaya via my all-time favourite website, booking.com
Puteri Harbour Nusajaya is nestled right in the Jewel of Nusajaya. A place to visit when you go JB. This hotel is built long the Straits of Johor separating Singapore from the Asia continent – a prestigious address in Nusajaya. This breathtaking waterfront development charts a new destination on the sailing world map.
Apart from the gorgeous view, there is also a place for kids to have fun. Puteri Harbour Theme Park is a four storey indoor theme park comprising of Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and The Little Big Club. It aims at really young kids below 8 years of age.
Not far from where we stay, there is Legoland. That is a story for another time when we actually visit the place.
As we reach the hotel way before the check in time, we decide to do a little site walk and have lunch. Although this is Malaysia, please note that not ALL restaurants are halal certified. We had lunch at Kenny Rogers and coffee at a nearby Starbucks.
Our check in time was at 3pm (Malaysia Time) but since I have informed them that I am on my honeymoon, they were sweet enough to let us have the room at 1pm instead! They even upgraded our stay. From a deluxe room, to a service apartment with a little kitchenette. It was a pleasant start to our new beginnings.
After settling in, we decide to just enjoy the room and stayed in the rest of the day. We had dinner a little coffee shop right beside the hotel. They sell local delights. A little pricey than usual, but given the location, I won’t complain.
The next day, we went to Johor Premium Outlet (JPO). It is about 20 minutes’ drive from our hotel. JPO Malaysia was officially opened in December 2011. It is the first ever proper Factory Outlet in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. A dream come true for many shopping enthusiast in Malaysia and Singapore as it is strategically located for the convenience of both countries. For Singaporeans, JPO is located about 30-40mins drive from the Singapore Tuas Checkpoint (2nd Link).
JPO caters to many international brands like Coach, Versace, Timberland, etc. They usually offer 20 to 70 percent off their products meaning it is much cheaper to get it here than from the malls. Do note however that they sell leftover stocks from past seasons so if you are looking for the latest design, it will not be available here.
After spending a lot of our money and our first half of a day here, we left happy with our purchases and call it a day. Head back to the hotel for some R&R.
Here is the address for JPO;
Jalan Premium Outlets Indahpura 81000 Kulai Johor Darul Takzim
On the 3rd day, we head out for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants called TGIF. It’s a good 30 minutes’ drive from our hotel. The restaurant is located in the heart of JB near the CIQ immigration. If you are very picky about where you eat, you might want to reconsider this place as it is not halal certified as they serve alcohol. The food is from a halal source though. Anyway, that aside, I just love how huge their portions are. My husband loves their steak. Especially the one that is served with the Tennessee sauce. Prices are ok. Not too expensive and service is fast too. We took our time to eat and chill for a bit before heading to another destination for a movie.
Fridays is located at Wisma Jotic, Jalan Ayer Molek, 80000 Johor Bahru Malaysia.
We have dinner plans with one of my good friend. She did not come to our wedding so she insist that we meet up for dinner. She took me to this place called K-fry Urban Korean. Situated in a building called Holiday Villa, this place is newly open and quite popular. It is quite hard to get seats during the weekends. It is the place to be seen. Instagram worthy.
This place is located at;
260 Jalan Dato Sulaiman Taman Abad 80250 Johor Bahru Malaysia.
We went back to the hotel with our happy tummy. As it was our last night in JB, we decide to pack our bags a little before calling it a day.
On our last day of stay here, we did not do much. Packed, have a nice quiet breakfast like a boss before heading back to Singapore to re-pack for our 2nd leg of our honeymoon.
Till next flight!
